Harry Stedman
Harry Stedman was a central figure within the Cunard Yanks, a group of British sailors who travelled across the Atlantic from the 1940s through to the 1960s. Established in 2011 and named after the famed sailor, the father and grandfather of the firm’s proprietors; Harry Stedman produced quality garments inspired by the very same mid-century silhouettes encountered by their namesake during his travels.
Ceasing production in recent years, we at John Simons have been lucky enough to acquire much of Stedman’s deadstock products. The quality of these garments is tangible across the range; from outerwear produced by famed makers such as Golden Bear and Grenfell, to shirting manufactured within Brooks Brothers’ USA factory. Amongst the Stedman offerings are beautifully produced Varsity Jackets as well as expertly crafted Oxford Cotton Button Downs, with all important details such as unlined collars and flap-pocket fronts. Much like the man himself, the Harry Stedman line represents a spirit of adventure and through attention detail, helps to shine a new light on classic garments.
